Umụnne nwanyị atọ bụ Ada, Akwaugo na Aňurị gara n'ọhịa ịkpata nkụ. Nne ha ochie dọrọ ha aka na ntị sị, "Kpachapụkwanụ anya maka agwọ ukwu ahụ bụ Ekenweohịa. Unu ewekwala ịhe ọbụla ọzọ n'ohịa ahụ n'abụghị nkụ." Nanị Akwaugo bụ onye n'egeghị ntị n'olu nne ya ochie.
Ụmụ agbọghọ ndịa wee wekọta mmịrị-ara-ehi, unere, peteto na mmiri-oňụňụ. Ha werekwaara ụdọ maka ike nkụ na-kwa mma dị nkọ maka igbuji nkụ. Ha wee gawa n'ọhịa.
Mgbe ha na-aga n'ụzọ, ụmụnne nwanyị ndịa na-akọrịta akụkọ na-achịrịta ọchị, N'otu-ntabi-anya, Ada, onye nke tọọrọ ha nịle sịrị ha. "Mechịenụ ọnụ. Anyị nọ nso ebe obibi agwọ ukwu ahụ bụ Ekenweọhịa."
Aňurị wee kpọọ ndi ọzọ sị, "Lekwanụ eze ọlaedo Ekenweohịa. Ngwanụ ka anyi were ha." Ada wee chetara ha, "Unu echefukwala ịdọ-aka-na-ntị nne anyị ochie. Ọ bụ nanị nkụ ka anyị ga-ewe site n'ọhịaa."
Akwaugo wee si, "Atụkwasịghị m nne anyị ochie obi. O kwuru otuahụ nanị ka ọ kwusị anyị ime ihe anyị chọrọ. Achọrọ m eze ọlaedo ndị ahụ." Nkaa wutere ụmụnne ya nwanyị. Ha wee sị ya, "Akwaugo, anyị adọọkwala gị aka na ntị." Ma nkaa agbasaghị Akwaugo.
Mgbe ahụ, Ekenweọhịa wee bịa ịchọ eze ya. Oke iwe bịara ya mgbe ọ na-ahụghị ha. Ekenweọhịa nụrụ ka ụmụagbọghọ ndịa nọ na-akọri akụkọ na-achịrịtakwa ọchị. O wee zoo n'okpuru otu oke nkume dị n'akụkụ ụzọ ebe ụmụagbọghọ ahụ ga-esi gafee mgbe ha ga-alawa n'ụlọ ha.
Ụmụnne nwanyị ahụ nọ n'ụzọ buru nkụ ha na-ala n'ụlọ ha. N'otu-ntabi-anya, ha wee nụ, "Hssssssssss!" Lekwa Ekenweọhịa, ọnụ ya gheere oghe na njikere ịta mmadụ. Egwu wee jide ụmụagbọghọ ahụ.
Ekenweọhịa jụọ ha si, "Onye weere eze ọlaedo m? Onweghị onye zara ya ihe ọbụla. Ekenweọhịa wee kpebie ịnwale ha." Onye ọbụla aka ya dị ọcha ga-enwe ike ịbụ abụ nk'ọma. Ọ ga-ejikwa nkụ ya laa. Ma onye aka ya adịghị ọcha agaghị agụ nk'ọma. Aga m eri ya!"
Ada wee bido ịgụ abụ n'olu dị nnọọ mma: "Ọbughị mu, ọbughị mu weere eze ndị ahụ. Onye weere ha ka nọ n'azụ." Aňụri wee gụokwa abụ. Ọ gụrụ ya n'olu dị mma.
N'ikpeazụ, o rue n'aka Akwaugo ịbụ nke ya. Egwu ekweghị ya. O malite ịbụ abụ. Ọdịghị ụtọ na-ntị, tinyekwara na ọ kpọpụtaghị nkpụrụ okwu nk'ọma. Ekenweọhịa wee tie nkpu sị ya, "Ọbụ na inweghị ike ibụ abụ nk'ọma dịka ndị ọzọ?" Ekenweọhịa matara na ọbụ Akwaugo weere eze ọlaedo ya.
Ekenweọhịa wee meghee ọnụ ukwu ya wee loo Akwaugo. Ụmụnne ya nwanyị wee gbaa ọsọ gbalaga nime obodo. Ha wee kọọrọ mmadụ nile ihe mere. Nne ha ochie wee sị, n'oke nnwuta, "A dọrọ m ya aka na ntị; ọbụrụ nanị na o gere ntị."
