Nandi - the only rose among the thorns.
The last born and beloved little girl of her family's home, met her parents in the garden where they spoke with cheer
Her parents adored her, as she brought so much warmth and sunshine to their home.
To show their admiration, Nandi's parents gifted her beautiful a clay pot, with she was well pleased.
She appreciated the pot so much that she decided to cherish it as a sign of her thankfulness.
She hoped to also pass it down to her own rose, one day.
Nandi kept her clay pot by the door just outside of the lounge.
Crash! "Oh no, Nandi's pot!" exclaimed one of Nandi's brothers.
Panic stirred amongst the brothers, who decided to throw the little pieces of the broken pot into a bushy area.
They kept this a secret until...
Returning home from a playdate with her friend, Nandi looked in the spot where she treasured her pot, and to her surprise it was no longer there.
Nandi's eyes welled-up with tears, in anger she darted off into the field.
Up the tree she climbed with the hope of finding some comfort and relief for her anger, like a blossom on a branch, she sat peering down at her brothers who followed after.
"Come down Nandi," asked the boys, each trying to explain that the clay pot accidentally broke.
"It was an accident Nani," said one brother. "Sorry Nandi," shouted another.
With flute and song the boys then tried to convince Nandi to come down, the song did not please her either.
Nandi stayed in the tree.
In dissatisfaction, Nandi shouted that the song did not make her feel better.
"It won't bring my pot back," is what she said.
The boys responded with silence, just before leaving from the bottom of the tree.
Nandi, still planted in the tree watched the boys leave.
"I won't leave until I feel better." said Nandi quietly to herself.
Kamo, Nandi's best friend happened to walk pass the tree on her way to visit Nandi.
"Nandi! What are you doing there?" she shouted in shock. "Come down," she continued.
Kamo remembered a song that Nandi loved to sing whenever she felt angry or sad. Kamo sang Nandi's favorite song, and watched as Nandi slowly climbed down the tree.
Nandi, who safely reached the bottom of the tree, met her best friend Kamo, who greeted her with cheer.
"I'm sorry about your clay pot Nandi. Let's go to your house and play," said Kamo.
"Okay!" said Nandi whose heart was filled with glee.
The friends walked and talked all the way back to Nandi's house.
"Surprise!" shouted Nandi's family, who surprised her with a peace-offering party to make her feel better.
Her brothers were there too and gave her a new honorary clay pot. Nandi loved her new clay pot, and decided to cherish it with better care.
Everyone now sang a happy song as their rose was pleased again.
