The Sanders family gathers at the breakfast table. A round of happy smiles and fun banter fill the air as they plan to visit the zoo today.
Tummies full, and hearts filled with glee as the drive down the avenue to the zoo, begins.
A song here, and a jig there, Timmy and Tanya can't wait to experience the beauty of the animal sanctuary.
The entrance to the zoo is big and bold, and behind the iron-bar gates is a roar-tastic adventure waiting to be explored. The scent of the zoo is welcoming and the beautiful sounds fill the air.
Tickets are bought, hands are held, and the fun-filled stroll begins.
"A lion!" exclaims Tanya, as Timmy watching the elephant throw its trunk.
"Just before lunctime, Tanya, so you know what that means," says Dad jokingly as Mom adds, "it means that it's ready to munch here and there."
Tanya smiles as the joke tickles. The Lion rests peacefully, giving Tanya the comfort to move closer.
A stroll pass the Flamingo pond brightens the eyes of Timmy and Tanya, who mimic the poses they see.
"I'd like to call this the Flamingo," says Tanya as she puckers her lips and stands on one leg, with the infamous "peace sign".
The family smile, and continue to chat about the flightless bird.
What is an adventure without some snacks?
Dad leads the family to the ice-cream stand to buy their favorite ice-creams. Timmy and Tanya have extraordinary sweet-tooths; their eyes lighten when they see a cotton candy stand nearby.
"It's only R10," exclaims a vendor, who cheerfully shares a smile."No, thank you," says Timmy, politely.
"I will take a balloon," says Timmy, "Are these for free," he asks. "No, it costs R5," says another friendly vendor.
"Alright, here's a R5," says Timmy. "Well done on saving for today's adventure Timmy," says Mom.
Dad buys Tanya a balloon too, and they continue their stroll, now towards the exit.
Hearts are full, and tummies even more full.
What a wonderful day, and even better as Timmy and Tanya enjoyed their favorite treats.
The adventure was roar-some indeed, and definitely one worth talking about at breakfast tomorrow morning.
For now, eyes and minds rest, as the day draws to a sunset-filled end.
