Published on African Storybook,
Sanele enters the Salon.
She was nervous because she didn't know what hairstyle she should get.
She tells the hairdresser that she has not decided what hairstyle to do.
The hairdresser tells her to look around to make it easier for her to decide.
Sanele goes to the first lady in the chair, doing her hair.
She asks her what hairstyle she's doing. "I'm getting a silk press." The lady replies. "It makes my hair soft shiny and bouncy. and it is easy to style"
"Can I get a silk press?" Sanele asks the hairdresser
"No, silly" the hairdresser says, "you have Locs."
Sanele goes to the second one getting her hair done.
She asks her what hairstyle she's doing.
The lady says, "I am getting my hair curled. It becomes bouncy, big and and is easy to style."
"Can I get my hair curled?" Sanele asks the hairdresser.
"No, silly." The hairdresser laughs, "you can't do this hairstyle because you have locs"
Sanele goes to the third lady, in the third chair styling her finished hair.
She asks her what hairstyle she just done.
"These are braids." The lady states. "They are pretty, they last long and lasts a while."
"Can I do braids like yours?" Sanele asks
The lady shakes her head, "no, silly. You have locs"
Sanele looks at the mirror confused.
"Everybody's hair looks so nice" she sighs, "but I can't get them because of my locs."
She looks at her head of hair and asks, "I can't do anything with these locs."
The hairdresser walks to her and tells her that that's not true. Then she guides her to the chair.
"You can do many things with locs." she re-assures.
"Really?" Sanele exclaims. "Can we do one now?"
"of course we can." The hairdresser says before doing Sanele's hair.
The hairdresser starts twisting and braiding Sanele's hair, while Sanele waits patiently.
When her hair was finally done, Sanele looks to the mirror beaming.
"I love it!" She exclaims, jumping up from the chair.
She runs around showing the other hairdressers and customers her new hairstyle.
"Look at my hair," she says. "Its pretty, and stands like a crown."
The hairdresser laughs and says, "Just because locs are different, does not mean your hairstyle isn't as good."
