We are Class 5 and 6 girls from Mwasi Kaskazini Primary School in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. We created this book in our Hadithi Zetu club in 2025.
We hope that our dreams will inspire others to have big dreams for themselves and their communities. Together, we can bring change!
My name is Tunu. I want to be a teacher. I will teach students to set their own dreams. I want to be a teacher to provide children with good knowledge. I want to give children books to read for themselves, to read together in unity and cooperation. I want them to read at home, not only
in school. I also want them to enjoy reading with others. I want to ensure all students go to school. Children should not stay at home.
I want to live in Dar es Salaam to be close to my parents. I want to speak Swahili, English, and Kiha. I want to speak Kiha to sustain our languages.
My name is Happiness. I have a dream of being a doctor to help the sick and reduce deaths. My
dream comes from how I suffered the loss of my younger sibling due to lack of medical treatment that led to her death.
I want to be a doctor to help patients and save lives. I will give patients
medicine and injections so they recover. People with diseases without a cure, like AIDS, I will give advice about what to eat and what to avoid, and to only do light work.
I have a dream of bringing great change to the community by eliminating poverty and helping people with disabilities.
I will help alcoholics and advise them to drink in moderation.
I want to live in Arusha to be close to my parents. I won't only live in Tanzania but also in other countries like China. I will speak English, Swahili, and Chinese. I will learn Kimbulu when I go to Karatu to my grandmother.
My name is Christina. I have a dream of becoming a nun. I want the church to be full and to worship God.
And I want to advise people, such as those who consume the illicit local spirit, smokers, and khat chewers, to stop these habits.
My name is Helena. I want to be a bank accountant. I will make my boss proud to have an employee like me. My dream started when I went to a bank with my grandmother. She explained what an accountant does. Then I began to love this dream.
I want to open a shop at home. I will set up a
mobile money service and offer different products so people can access services close by.
I want to have a family with moral values, that is respectful and does not break cultural values.
I dream of educating women and men about the importance of being employed or self-employed.
Don't stay home doing nothing, so you can educate and feed your children and ensure they go to school.
I want people to be hardworking and not give up in life. They should cooperate, not separate or discriminate. They should live with love and happiness, get good jobs, and care for their family.
My name in Linda. I dream of becoming a police officer. I want to help people who are vulnerable, the poor, and those who are being stolen from. I want to bring change to the community, make people happy, and help them in both trouble and joy.
My name is Eliza. My dream is to become a pilot. I will fly planes safely and people will enjoy.
My dream will help me get to know new people and assist people traveling abroad and returning to Tanzania. I have loved this job since I was young.
I want to speak Swahili, English, and Kichaga. I will ask to be taught other languages from different ethnicities. I like being taught languages like Kimbulu, Kimaasai, Kinyakyusa, Korean, and French so I can understand different ethnic groups.
I want to have a family with three children who will help me and the community. I will teach them to read, write, and count.
I love my community because they correct me when I don't know what to do or when they see something is wrong. They also teach me good behaviour.
My name is Judith. My dream is to be a teacher so I can help students learn how to read, write, and count. I will teach students unity, love, cooperation, and solidarity in the community, and togetherness in various sports like football, rede, skipping rope, netball, running, and mdako.
We love a community that is full of love, solidarity, peace, and discipline for both the old and the young. We have a dream of a community where people greet each other out of respect and care. We want community members to cooperate during funerals, celebrations, and prayers for the dead.
We have a dream of a community with sports to strengthen cooperation within society. Sports help to energize the body, bring joy, and get to know people you do not yet know. We have a dream of a community with a playing field, goal posts, balls, and jerseys.
