Queen Halimat was the first wife to the Emir of Katanko. She was really beautiful and admired by all.
She was calm, compassionate, humble and a true leader.
Queen Halimat usually went for a morning walk to exercise herself and have a feel of nature. She greeted everybody she met on her way.
She played with the children and chatted with them at every given opportunity.
The villagers were amazed by her humility, kindness and love. Everybody spoke highly of her and they treasured every moment spent with her.
Her husband, the king, called her 'The pride of Katanko'.
One day, the Queen fell seriously ill. She couldn't get up from her royal bed. Everyone at the palace was worried.
Her husband, the king, was worried. He couldn't even speak. The villagers heard of it and they were very worried.
The king called the royal messenger saying, "Go to all six zones of this land and bring me the best medicine-men.
There will be a great reward for the man who can cure my Queen from this ailment."
Three days later, they arrived.
The medicine-men tried their best to cure the Queen. They tried different herbs, and said prayers for over 7 days but nothing changed.
The Queen was still very ill and weak. Her husband was afraid and sad.
News spread around the village about the condition of their lovely Queen.
The villagers were worried, they prayed for her and spoke about her everywhere they went.
An old woman at the market heard some women talk about her.
The old woman remembered who Queen Halimat was.
She said to herself, "This is the kind-hearted Queen who helped me with my water pot at the stream. She should not be in this kind of situation. I must help her."
She walked to the palace and said, "I can help the Queen."
The desperate king allowed her in. The old woman walked in and began administering some herbs to the Queen.
She spoke life in her.
After 7 days, the queen was up and healthy. The king offered to reward the old woman, but she refused.
She said, "Queen Halimat reaped the fruit of her kindness. She helped me when no one else would. I will not sit and watch her suffer."
The king was so happy. Finally his wife, 'The pride of Katanko' was back, healthy and strong.
Everyone in the community was happy.
Their kind-hearted Queen was back.
The king threw a feast to celebrate the queen's recovery. There was food, drinks and rejoicing in the palace.
Queen Halimat danced. There was laughter and joy again in Katanko community. "Long live Queen Halimat!" shouted the villagers.
