Tortoise wanted to fly like the birds. But he had no wings.
“Please lend me feathers,” he begged. The birds agreed kindly.
Tortoise flew with the birds to a big feast. There was plenty of food!
“My name is All of You,” Tortoise said. He tricked the birds.
When food was served, they said, “This is for all of you!” Tortoise ate everything!
The birds became angry. They took back their feathers.
Tortoise fell from the sky—CRASH! His shell cracked.
He learned never to trick others again. That is why his shell has cracks today.
