Tamu the Rabbit
Eric Ouma

Long ago, a rabbit named Tamu loved carrots very much. But Tamu did not grow his own food. Every night, he went to other animals’ farms and stole their carrots.
The tortoise and the antelope noticed their carrots were missing.

1

They became worried and decided to find the thief. That night, a wise owl stayed awake to watch.
Soon, Tamu came quietly into the garden. The owl saw him and made a loud noise. All the animals ran quickly and caught Tamu with the carrots.

2

Tamu felt very ashamed. He said, “I am sorry. I will not steal again.”
The animals forgave him but told him to grow his own carrots. Tamu agreed and started working hard on his farm.
After some time, he had many carrots of his own.

3

He was happy and proud.
From that day, Tamu learned that stealing is wrong and hard work is best.
