Ama woke up early to the sound of the rooster crowing.
“Today is market day!” she said with a big smile. She quickly helped her mother pack tomatoes, peppers, and onions into a basket.
Ama and her mother walked along a dusty path. They greeted neighbors along the way.
“Good morning!” everyone said cheerfully.
The market was full of life. People were buying, selling, and talking loudly.
Ama saw colorful fabrics, fresh fish, and big yams.
Ama helped her mother arrange the vegetables neatly.
“Fresh tomatoes! Fresh peppers!” her mother called out. Soon, customers came to buy.
A woman bought some tomatoes.
Ama carefully counted the money and gave the right change.
“Good job, Ama!” her mother said proudly.
After helping, Ama walked around the market.
She saw a woman frying puff-puff and a man selling fresh fruits.
The smells were sweet and delicious!
Ama saw a little boy who looked lost.
She took his hand and helped him find his mother.
“Thank you,” the mother said with a smile.
As the sun began to set, Ama and her mother packed up.
They walked home happily.
“Market day was fun,” Ama said. “I learned so much!”
