A family of baboons from Kiadege valley were friends with a family of monkeys living across. There were laid down responsibilities. Family members spent time glooming each other. Females took care of young ones as males protected their kin.

1

The baboons visited the monkeys and vice-versa. Mothers from both communities gathered food together as their children played.

2

One morning, the monkey's children visited the baboon's family. They started playing their usual games. Accidentally, one small monkey got injured and died.

3

The parents were very angry and said it was on purpose. They could hear none of it. The baboons tried to explain to no avail. They attacked the baboon's family and there was a fierce fight. No one could separate them.

4

The baboons in return decided to plan a revenge mission at an appropriate time. They approached the Lion and requested him for help. The Lion refused.

5

Next they went to Elephant as he is mighty. He too said no. He would not interfere.

6

They held a meeting and brainstormed on the way forward. If elephant who was big and mighty could not help them, who would? They thought of a smaller animal and approached squirrel and his family. He agreed.

7

Squirrel's family agreed to go to battle with them on one condition. That the baboons carry the squirrels on their backs.

8

As they were fighting father squirrel looked up at a nearby tree and saw a swarm of bees. He quickly went up the tree and dropped the entire swarm on the monkeys. They were stung and they scampered for safety. The baboons worn the battle.

9

They went home with their heads high. After a month of enmity, some elders from the monkeys family visited the baboons and pleaded for forgiveness. They agreed to make peace and Kiadege valley was once again a quiet and happy place to live.
