Kamau\\'s pet

One quiet evening, Kamau was busy studying. Shortly after, he was disrupted by noise coming from a road nearby. With time the noise intensified getting him curious to find out what was happening.

1

From a distance, he saw three boys running after his pet-dog while throwing stones at it. Kamau ran after them shouting and asking them to stop what they were doing. The boys declined and kept chasing after the dog.

2

In fear, Kamau's dog ran towards the river but the waters were too turbulent. He was afraid of drowning. He stood on a stone looking around for his best friend who was nowhere to be found.

3

Kamau ran down the road towards the direction the boys had taken in search of his dog. On the way he found a lady seated under a tree and enquired from her whether he had seen his dog. "No." She replied.

4

He went and sat on a stone under a large tree. He was very frightened but he waited patiently hoping that his best friend would come looking for him.

5

After sometime, he felt unsafe on the stone and decided to look for a more secure place to hide. He found a hole and got inside of it all the while wishing that Kamau would come to his rescue.

6

Evening was approaching and Kamau's search had borne no fruits. Kamau was aggrieved that his best friends had chased away his dog. As he sat there and cried, they came along and offered to help.

7

They lifted him up from the ground and all agreed to go in search of the dog.

8

The boys wondered which direction the dog had taken. After discussing, Kamau directed the route they should take. They all went down the valley towards the river.

9

As they walked Kamau whistled. This was his way of calling him out. The dog heard him and jumped out of the hole. He barked and Kamau ran towards his direction. He got hold of him and in joy the dog jumped and wagged his tail.

10

Kamau carried him up and went and sat under a tree. Both him and the dog were still in disbelief that they had found each other. The dog licked his face in acknowledgement while Kamau clutched him tightly.

11

They then joined his friends who were happy that the dog had been found. They apologised for what they had caused him and promised never to repeat that again. The dog nodded in affirmation and they all became good friends.
