Man and Owl were friends. They lived together in the middle of the forest. Man had built a small cage for Owl. During the day, they would hunt small Rabbits and Gazelles together.

1

Once they caught an animal, they would slaughter and share the meat. They would rest and then wait for another chance to go hunting.

2

Their friendship lasted for a long time. One day, Man found a woman to marry. Owl was not happy because the attention had shifted. But Man kept telling him that they were together.

3

After sometime, Man had a baby. Owl was very jealous. The family was growing big and so even the hunting responsibilities increased.

4

They still went out to hunt though Owl was not excited about it anymore. He hated Man's wife and the kid.

5

One day he was very frustrated and unhappy. Man told him to go and hunt but he refused. He beat Owl up and punished him for disobeying.

6

That night Owl cried cried and cried. He was so annoyed with Man. The following day Man's baby died. He became very sorrowful and wept uncontrollably. Not even his wife could console him.

7

He accused Owl of bewitching his baby and chased him away from the compound. They stopped hunting together and were now great enemies

8

He went to live on tall trees in the forest away from Man. Because of fearing his wrath, Owl started hunting at night so that Man may not see him and kill him.

9

To this day, any time Owl hoots at night as he hunts, man says that he is bewitching him. He believes that it's a bad omen. He is still very afraid of him.
