Kofikrom is a small farming community on the Aburi Mountains. Despite being a mountainous town, the people are great farmers.
Kofikrom has a huge tree which has only one fruit.
The tree is the source of nutrient and growth for all other food crops. Hence their ability to be great farmers.
It is forbidden for all generations to eat that fruit.
Amina lives with her parents in Kofikrom and is fond of the big tree hence she is always seen around the tree.
Sometimes, she waters the base of the tree with the intention of caring for it. She also cares for the little trees under the big tree.
One hot afternoon, a boy with his father from a nearby community were passing through Kofikrom.
He was so hungry that he couldn't wait to get home.
As they got past the tree, the boy saw the bright fruit and was instantly attracted. He imagined how delicious that would be.
Before his father could explain to him the relevance of that fruit, he had already plugged the fruit and taken a bite.
This is bad, his father regretted. The tree instantly begun breaking in half. The leaves begun falling off the tree.
Members of the community rushed to the tree site with their hands over their heads.
Some reported that their farm crops were instantly affected.
Amina also rushed to the tree site. She embraced the lower part of the tree in tears.
The tree begun trembling in the presence of the community members. She requested for water and started watering the plant at the base as always.
To their surprise, the breaking tree became whole and stood upright with new leaves growing again.
Several bright little birds flew around it. Everyone was surprised and could not believe their eyes.
The tree grew beautifully again. But it took a few years to grow fruit again.
Their food crops were also positively affected.
The little boy and his father thanked Amina for her help and apologized to the community members.
The community leaders built a fence around the tree to prevent any such incident in the future.
However, only Amina was allowed into the fence to get closer to the tree.
