Once upon a time, when animals could
still talk, they all lived peacefully
together in the jungle. There was a
big river where every animal came to
drink water.
Among those animals were three
best friends Giraffe, Tortoise, and
Zebra, who looked after the river.
Every morning, they made sure that
each animal got a turn to drink
water.
Every morning, the animals
came to drink water and
found the three best
friends there, helping them
and making sure they were
satisfied.
When everyone had finished drinking,
the three friends stayed behind.
They lit a fire and slept near the
river to stop greedy animals, like Lion
and Raven, from sneaking back for
more.
One morning, while Giraffe,
Tortoise, and Zebra were still
sleeping beside the fire,
they were woken up by loud
laughter. "Hà-ha-ha! Look at
those fools still sleeping!"
shouted Tiger, standing near
the river.
"From today, this water is
mine! No one else can drink
from it!
Tiger stood next to the
river, beat his chest, and
shouted, "This water is
mine! No one else will drink
it!"
Then he began roaring
loudly so that everyone
could hear him.
The friends were
surprised. Tiger
roared,
"I am the strongest
animal in the jungle!
No one can stop me!
No one is brave
enough to challenge
me!" Tortoise was
very scared and hid
behind Giraffe.
Later that morning, the other animals came to
drink water like they always did.
But Tiger was still there, growling and walking
around angrily.
A small animal named Horn stepped forward and
said softly, "Please, Mr. Tiger, may I have some
water?
I'm very thirsty." Tiger roared even louder.
"That's not my problem! Go before I eat you!"
He started pushing the other
animals away and shouted, "This
water is mine! Go, or I will bite
you all!"
The animals were terrified.
They screamed and ran in all
directions, scared of the angry
Tiger.
But clever Giraffe had
an idea. She looked at
the fire they had made
the night before.
While Tiger was
shouting, Giraffe
stretched out her long
legs and gave Tiger big
kick right into the fire!
POOF! Sparks flew
everywhere. Tiger rolled
in the fire and shouted,
"Ouch! Ouch!"
When he stood up, something strange had happened his golden, yellow fur
now had black stripes.
He looked at his reflection in the river and gasped, "Oh no! I'm ruined! "
The other animals laughed. Tiger felt embarrassed and ashamed.
He had lost his pride. No one was scared of him anymore.
Ashamed and wounded, Tiger ran away into the forest and never came
back.
From that day on,
the animals lived
happily and shared
the river water in
peace.
They thanked
Giraffe for being so
brave and wise.
And that is how the
Tiger got his black
stripes marks to
remind him never to
be greedy again.
From that day on,
the animals lived
happily and shared
the river water in
peace.
They thanked
Giraffe for being so
brave and wise.
The End
