Once upon a time, in the city of Ivada, there lived a boy named Kari. He was an orphan who lived with his older sister who got married at a very young age.

Before his father died, he gave him a locket. He instructed him not to open it, until he was twenty years old. Kari always wore the locket around.

One day, he went to the stream to fetch water. As he bent to pick the clay pot, the locket cut and fell into the stream. Kari did not notice this.
