Tumi and Thato were traveling back to Durban with their parents. They had gone for a short holiday to Sun City.
While their dad was driving, Thato shouted out to his dad, "Stop the car!"
The children quickly rushed to rescue a tortoise that was trying to cross the road.
Tumi pleaded with his parents to take the tortoise home with them. Eventually, Mum and Dad agreed.
Tumi and Thato carried the tortoise safely into the car.
Tumi and Thato were fascinated by the tortoise, their new pet. As soon as they arrived home, they took it into their backyard to play with.
The tortoise was covered in dust. The children began to wipe the dust off the tortoise's shell.
With a swoosh, they magically appeared in a different place. Tumi and Thato were surprised.
"Where are we, Tumi?" asked Thato. "The sign over there says 'Ngorongoro Conservation.' My Social Science teacher showed us the landmarks in Africa."
"Woah, little tortoise! Where are we off to now?" asked Tumi.
Thato held on tight to the tortoise, and in a poof, they appeared in a new place.
Thumi said, "Look behind you, Thato, it's Table Mountain in Cape Town."
"It's magnificent!" said Thato.
"This tortoise is magical. I want to hold on to it!" said Tumi. In a puff, she appeared in different clothes along the river.
Thato said, "I remember learning about this place. It's Victoria Falls. I wonder where we will go next?"
"Hi guys, I'm from Durban, South Africa. My name is Thato."
"Welcome to the pyramids of Egypt," said the man.
Thato called out to Tumi to come closer before the little tortoise swooshed them off to another adventure.
"Thato, I can't believe that we've seen so many places because of this magical tortoise," said Tumi.
"We're so lucky to have discovered him, and look at the patterns on his shell," said Thato.
"Is this the map of Africa?" asked Tumi.
The magical tortoise loved the colours that Tumi and Thato painted on his shell to highlight the beautiful map of Africa.
Tumi and Thato looked forward to more adventures around Africa with their wonderful magical tortoise.
