Once upon a time, there were two great friends, Rabbit and Hare. They looked the same. It wasn't easy to differentiate them. Hare was smaller than Rabbit.
Rabbit and Hare were neighbours. They lived in peace and had beautiful, strong houses. Rabbit's house was made of mud, poles, and thatch, while Hare's house is made of thatch and poles.
Hare's house appeared weaker than Rabbit's house, which made Hare jealous. He stood outside and contemplated asking his friends to cook Rabbit instead. Off he went.
His neighbour warmly welcomed Hare. Rabbit took out two stools. They shook hands and sat outside the house. Both of them were excited.
Hare suggested that they play the game called "Cooking Each Other." Rabbit was surprised and asked, "What game is that?" Hare replied, "It's exciting! We will make a fire, boil water, and take turns getting in." Rabbit smiled and agreed to play.
They both left to go into the bush and fetch firewood. After gathering two bundles of firewood, they took two buckets to fetch water from the river.
Rabbit and Hare built a fire in front of Hare's house. They placed a large black clay pot on three stones, which was half filled with water.
Hare told Rabbit that he would be the first to get into the pot. So he did. After a few minutes, while the water was still cold, he screamed, "Rabbit! Rabbit! Take me out!" The Rabbit jumped, grabbed his hands, and pulled him out of the pot.
It was Rabbit's turn to get into the pot. The water was getting warm. Since he was bigger than Hare, he squeezed himself through the opening of the pot.
While Rabbit was inside the pot, Hare added more firewood to the fire. The water became warmer and warmer until it was hot. Rabbit screamed too, "Hare! Hare! Please take me out! The water is hot!" Hare ignored his friend.
Rabbit screamed for help again, but Hare ignored him. The pot fell, and although Rabbit survived, he suffered some minor burns.
Hare was shocked and embarrassed. He left his house and ran into the forest. Even today, Hare is still homeless, and Rabbit still lives happily in his home.
