THE TRAFFIC LIGHT

One shiny morning, after I woke up and as I usually do went to wash my face and then brushed my teeth. Afterwards I went to take my bath. I realized that in our village specifically that month, there were so many accidents.

1

Many people in our village died after the accidents because there is no hospital take to take them. I attend Nana Berko Community school. We have only two teachers. A male and a female.

2

The male teaches the young boys whlist the female teaches only the girls. Sometimes, they teach us all together. One day, our teacher taught us about the traffic light. There is one traffic light but most tricycle riders are unqualified.

3

So one day after school i decided to educate the people of our village. I went to our chief and told him that I have a way to prevent the accidents going on in our village. He shouted and became angry with me.

4

"A problem we the elders are not able to solve and then you this young boy standing in front of me saying that you can solve it." He said angrily. I will give you the chance but wilI will sanction you if you fail to deliver.

5

"Do you accept?. He asked. I boldly said Yes. He then ordered the announcer to inform the villagers. Suddenly we went to the palace of the cheif. He gave me the order to talk. I told the villagers, "please listen to me."

6

To save lives, we need to work with the traffic light, if the red is on. You need to stop, if the yellow is on , get ready, and if the green light is on , go\move. The villagers were happy and listened to me. They promised to do as I say.

7

They began using the colours of the traffic light. The following day they came to the chief and told him no one had an accident. The chief came to me and apologized and thanked me for my assistance. So everyone was happy and safe since then.
