There once lived the Eze family in a small village. They had an only child named Emmanuel, after his father. He looked so much like his father. And so his mother, Peace, an honest petty trader named him so.
Emmanuel was stubborn from childhood. He would refuse to do housework and would cry and do the opposite, if forced to do it.
"Can't someone have a moment's rest in this house?" Emmanuel would snap back when asked to read his books or do his homework. He did not obey anyone and never went church.
Whenever he was forced to go to church, he would escape and go to the movies. He would use the offering money to pay gate fee at the movie house and or will buy snacks.
One fateful day, Emmanuel left his house again. He ran to the cave and before his friends would arrive, "Emmanuel! Emmanuel!!" "Change your ways, God is not happy with you." "You will be rewarded with long life if you do," he heard a voice.
Emmanuel trembled and fell on his knees. He felt like running out of the cave but could not. "This could be an angel of God that appeared to me," he reasoned. He prayed, " forgive my bad ways and accept a sinner like me. "
After the prayer, he ran as fast as he could go to his mother and told her of his experience. She took him to church where he was prayed for.
He was anointed and laid hands upon. "Never go back to the world, my son, God has called you to live and work for him," prayed the man of God.
Many people attended Emmanuel's thanksgiving in church the following Sunday. From that point onwards, he started studying well, doing household work and obeying his parents. The Eze family lived happily ever after.
