Hi! My name is Anamlay, and I’m 8 years old. Today, my teacher told us about the Feok Festival!

It's a special celebration by the Builsa people in the Upper East Region of Ghana. I can't wait to learn more and see everything!

1

Early in the morning, my family and I packed our bags. We were going to Sandema, where the festival is held.

The road was bumpy, but I was too excited to care. I kept asking, "Are we there yet?"

2

When we arrived, we heard loud drums. Boom, boom, boom! It was the sound of the festival.

Everyone was dancing and smiling. The colors of their clothes were so bright and beautiful!

3

We joined the parade. People wore masks and carried shields and spears.

They looked like brave warriors from long ago. I felt like I was in a storybook!

4

There were so many tasty foods to try. My favorite was the rice balls with groundnut soup.

I even tried some spicy pepper soup! It was hot, but I liked it!

5

In the evening, we sat around a big fire. An old man told us stories about the Builsa people's bravery.

The stories were about how they fought to protect their land. I was so inspired!

6

The festival ended with a big ceremony. There was singing and dancing.

Everyone was together and happy. I felt so lucky to be there. It was the best day ever!

7

When we got home, I drew pictures of everything I saw to remember the Feok Festival.

I hope I can go back again next year! Until then, I will tell everyone about the amazing time I had.
