Kumawu is a town in the Ashanti Region known for its many foodstuffs.

A cooking contest was announced, and all the young girls were interested to participate in the event.

Akua loved cooking but she was afraid of losing.

With the support of her grandma, Akua said to herself, "I will take part."

All the participants were excited. They would display their best dishes. Others discuss their plans.

2

Akua's grandma encouraged her and her friends to take part in the upcoming cooking contest.

Akua was not as confident as her friends were. They encouraged her and she made up her mind.

3

Akua started practicing in the kitchen, trying different recipes and techniques.

However, one of her dishes overcooked, it had too much pepper and salt. This worried Akua.

4

Each time she struggled, she remembered her grandma's advice and this helped her to keep on.

She also learned new skills from friends along the way. Akua discovered a different recipe, one of her grandma's favorite.

On the day of the contest, the village was full of excitement.

Each participant set up their cooking station, displaying their ingredients.

Akua felt nervous as she watched others prepare their dishes.

She wanted to back out, but she remembered her grandma's encouragement. After a while Akua began to cook.

Few minutes later, her pot started boiling over, and she realized that she had forgotten about some spices. She quickly organized herself.

7

She did not panic and quickly changed her way of cooking to improve upon her dish.

She realized that cooking was about making it your own.

She allowed her dish to cook for a while and the aroma alone told her that it would be tasty and delicious.

Cooking time was over, and the panel of judges, who were mostly chefs, visited every stand to taste the food.

When the judges reached Akua's stand, she was not sure whether her food would be tasty or not.

As they tasted her dish, they were surprised by the flavors and creativity. Akua's confidence grew as she realized that she could win the contest.
