My memory about that Monday

I woke up, yawned hard and stretched myself. My friend Tereza was fast asleep. I called her, and she never moved an inch. I left the room. I had decided that it was not well to disturb other people's peace.

1

I brushed my teeth. My mother came to help me.

2

I cleaned my face. I was thinking I should not be late for school.

3

Quickly, I took a bath. Usually, I did all this together with my sister. Was she not going to school today?

4

I went back to my room. I open the window. Tereza wa still sleeping. Unbothered. When I looked outside, I was also surprised that there was no one going to school.

5

My mother came into our room. "Chifundo, I am told there is a holiday at school today."
"What? Is this why Tereza is still sleeping?
"I think so. Go and ask your grandfather."

6

I went to ask my grandmother. My grandfather was the one who explained. It was a holiday. The country was celebrating its independence day.

7

I then walked back to my room, closed the window and went back to sleep.
