One day, Rabbit invited his neighbour, Hyena, to attend a burial ceremony of his father in-law with him.

A day after, the two neighbours embarked on the journey.

1

They covered a reasonable distance of their journey, but there was no sign of a village. Hyena became tired and hungry.

He asked, "How much longer shall we walk before arriving at your in-laws' place?"

2

"It is still a little bit far," answered Rabbit.

On hearing this, Hyena became more disturbed as the journey had to continue.

3

Along the way, they came across a creature lying by the road side. It had pointed legs, a set of claws and a segmented tail.

"What is this"? asked Hyena.

"Oh! That is Scorpion. He is little but dangerous," Rabbit replied.

4

"I will swallow it," said Hyena.

"Ah! Don't try that, he vomits fire," Rabbit warned.

Reluctantly and angrily, Hyena said, "Then, Let us keep going."

5

After a little while, Hyena said he was thirsty. He branched into the nearby forest, pretending to look for a river.

He then turned and went to where they had left Scorpion.

6

On finding Scorpion, Hyena rushed and tried to swallow him.

Booooomm, the little but dangerous creature did not waste time. He gave Hyena a hot sting on his nose.

"Oh, my nose! Oh my mouth! Oh my tongue!" shouted Hyena.

7

Alerted by the loud cry of Hyena, Rabbit rushed toward that direction. He found Hyena languishing in pain.

"I warned you but you wouldn't listen," said Rabbit.

8

Rabbit and Hyena continued on their journey. Hyena screamed and complained of pains from Scorpion's sting.

Rabbit turned to console him from time to time.

9

When they finally arrived at the burial, Rabbit joined his relatives in mourning for the loss of their beloved one.

Hyena continued screaming from pain. "I wish I hadn't come," he said quietly.
