Two brothers seek happiness

Two brothers named Terna and Igbana lived in Gboko.

They went out one morning to find happiness and wealth.

1

Igbana and Terna travelled for two days and became very tired. They missed their way and got lost in a thick forest.

They lay under a tree and fell asleep.

2

In their sleep, they heard a voice of an old man.

When they woke up, they saw the old man carrying a heavy sack on his back.

3

Terna and Igbana were scared.

The old man spoke kindly, "What are you doing in this dangerous forest?"

"We are looking for happiness and wealth," Terna replied.

4

"I will help you," the old man said.

He gave them a handful of gold and pearls. They took it eagerly.

5

The man dropped his heavy sack and asked, "Who will help me carry this sack to my village?"

"Where is your village?" Igbana asked. "Beyond the hills," the old man replied.

Terna helped the old man. But Igbana stayed back admiring his fortune.

6

They got close to the hills.

The old man said, "You're a good boy. People must always show appreciation. Take the whole sack and follow this way back to your village."

7

The old man added, "Remember, you must work hard and do good to get more wealth and happiness." Then, he vanished.

Terna opened the sack and found, gold, pearls and diamonds. He was very happy.
