Once there lived a group of monkeys, baboons and a gorilla in a zoo for research purposes. One day a new guest called Mapetu was introduced into the family.
Kali who was the dominant male was in control. He took a glance at Mapetu and decided to challenge him. They got involved in a fierce battle which left Mapetu injured. They were shot with tranquilizers by the game wardens to stop the fight.
Mapetu made a plan to escape from his cage. He met the gorilla and befriended him. Kali was terrified to see them together. Mapetu took advantage of the situation and made Kali submit to him. He did it in fear of the gorilla.
Tables turned and Mapetu became the dominant male. He controlled all the female monkeys. Together they hatched a plan to escape to the nearby forest over the bridge.
After a few days of planning he escaped with his fellow friends from the zoo. Ahead on their way was a bridge where police and guards had laid a blockade.
They laid an attack from top, bottom and middle of the bridge. Many monkeys died but at last they made it past the bridge into the forest where they were untouchable because of their ability to move on trees.
Mapetu controlled the vast forest with new, old monkeys and apes from other parts of the forest joining them.
They all lived at peace with each other. They agreed to follow Mapetu's rules and barred people from interfering with their lives. They lived minding their own business since they were monkeys.
