Once upon a time, two friends, Egyin and Amoa, lived in a village called Adukrom.
They were hunters and did everything together.
One day Egyin and Amoa went to the forest to hunt.
They did not catch any game so they decided to go back home.
On their way home they saw a beautiful animal.
It was white in colour and had a long tail.
They both liked the animal so they did not kill it.
They caught it and took it home.
The next day, Egyin and Amoa took the animal to the palace and showed it to the chief.
The chief gave the animal some food and it ate all of it.
But, he did not know the animal's name.
The chief invited the people in the village to the palace to see the animal.
The people rushed to the palace to see the beautiful animal.
The chief asked the people to give the animal a name. They suggested many names but the chief did not like any of them.
At last, a man named Abeiku said, "The animal should be named after the two friends who found it."
He said, "The animal should be called 'Egyinamoa'."
This was accepted by all the people in the village because the name sounded good.
This is why the Fante people call the cat 'egyinamoa'.
