The beautiful Eli couldn't stop jumping up and down, her two ponytail dreadlocks bouncing like springs.
The day that she would go to her dad's house for the school holidays was nearing.
"Have you packed your purple rain coat my baby?" asked Eli's mom.
"Yes Mom! I have packed my toys too," she said softly.
After taking her bath, Eli couldn't stop talking. She was excited about visiting her dad for the school holidays.
Eli jumped off from her mother's lap and went to her bedroom.
She sat on her bed crying and didn't want to speak to anyone.
The following day Eli's grandma had some good news for Eli. "Guess what Eli?" asked her granny as she grabbed Eli to stand next to her.
"Your cousins are on their way to visit you for the holidays" said Eli's granny as she smiled with Eli.
Eli saw her cousins arrive at her home and shouted "Mom, Gran come see! Amo, Qhawe and Ona are here."
"Hey Eli, how are you? Are you happy to see us?" greeted Qhawe.
Eli replied "Hello Qhawe, Ona and Amo. I'm so happy to see you guys. Thank you for visiting for a few days"
They all giggled and took photos.
The joyful Ona asked "So Eli, can we please see your toys? We also brought our own."
Excitedly Eli replied, "Yes you may Ona, let's all go play in the empty room."
The following day was even better for Eli and her cousins. They were taken to the movies by Eli's mother.
"I have never been to the movies Eli, what does a cinema look like?" Amo softly asked Eli.
"It is a big dark hall with many chairs and a big TV screen Amo. You will love it!" Eli explained to curious Amo as they walked inside the cinema.
On the last day of their visit, the four cousins spent their morning talking about all the fun they had had during their visit. Qhawe gratefully added, "Thank you for the ice cream treats granny. I will miss those the most."
Eli thanked her cousins as they went back to their homes, "Thank you guys for making my school holidays special. I cannot wait to tell my English teacher and classmates all about them."
