1

It was a Saturday on a sunny day, Thembi and his brother Thabo walked to the shop by the road. They were having a nice conversation about their dream cars, as they saw beautiful cars passing along the road.

2

There passed a red truck. Thabo said, "Look Thembi the driver of the truck is our neighbour baba Khumalo". Mr Khumalo was talking on the phone without focusing on the road.

3

Above in the road there was another green car going in the opposite direction as the truck. Thembi said, " When I grow up, I want to buy a car that looks that green car."

4

Suddenly a loud crash was heard on the road "bang", as a car and a truck had an accident. Thembi and his brother froze in shock! It was the first time they see an accident.

5

Thembi remembered that her mother had taught her to know the numbers of emergency services by heart. The number of an ambulance was 10177. She then quickly called an ambulance using his brother's phone. The ambulance took 20 minutes to arrive.

6

The people working in emergency said, "Thembi you are a hero because you helped people to survive, by immediately calling the ambulance emergency number. Thembi's brother said "from today I will know all the emergency numbers like you Thembi"

7

Thembi and his brother could not continue with their journey to the shop. This was because they were scared. They waited for their parent to come and fetch them. The children were taken for counselling after the accident had happened.
