Once upon a time in a village called Khutsong, lived a boy called Kgomotso. Kgomotso lived with his grandmother Koko and his two siblings Diketso and Phuthi. Koko used to bring fruits and vegetables everytime she went to the market.
Koko taught her grandchildren to eat healthy food and to always share. One day, Koko brought home a basket of fruits and the children were happy. They looked at the fruits the whole day until it was time to sleep.
The next morning the children woke up early, and asked Koko if they may eat the fruits. Koko told them to clean the house and do dishes first. Kgomotso told his siblings that they should go into the kitchen and eat them, and they said no.
" I will wash the dishes", said Kgomotso. Dikeledi was surprised because Kgomotso hated to wash the dishes. They both agreed but, they were curious why would Kgomotso want to wash the dishes. When no one was around, Kgomotso went into the Kitchen.
Kgomotso thought to himself that he will only eat three fruits and no one will notice that he ate them. Kgomotso ended up sitting down as he was enjoying eating the fruits. Whispering, "fruits are delicious and healthy for our bodies", said Kgomotso. He almost finished the fruits but it was visible someone ate the fruits.
Dikeledi and Phuthi came back after cleaning the house. "We must go eat the fruits before Kgomotso comes", said Phuthi. They went to the fruit basket, " what a mess!!!", they both said. Dikeledi told Phuthi that they should go before Koko sees them.
Koko thought to herself, " My children have worked hard, let me go fetch fruits and give them." When Koko arrived at the fruit basket, she was surprised at what she found. Koko went to sit on her chair, and called her grandchildren.
Koko was sad because the children forgot her teachings. Koko asked the children who ate the fruits and they all kept quiet. Kgomotso was wrong and Koko said she knows he will not lie. He lied and said that it was Phuthi. But, Koko knew he was lying.
Koko asked Diketso and Kgomotso to go to their rooms, she wants to speak to Phuthi alone. Phuthi told Koko that Kgomotso is lying and he did not eat any fruit. He told Koko that even Diketso knows the truth, she was with him. Koko told Phuthi that he knows it was not him and she wants to teach Kgomotso to tell the truth and that lying is wrong.
The next morning, Kgomotso woke up not feeling well. He rushed to the toilet because he was having a running stomach. He was in pain and he thought that stealing and lying is not good because now he sees the results of his actions.
Kgomotso went to Koko to tell her the truth about what he did. He was in pain and having stomach cramps. Koko asked him, " what is wrong my child?" Kgomotso was scared at first and then he said
" I ate the fruits in the basket and now I am having stomach cramps." Koko made a medicine that will heal his stomach and gave him to drink.
Kgomotso apologized to Koko and his siblings, he promised to follow Koko's teaching. They all forgave him and reminded each other that sharing is caring. Koko told them that fruits and vegetables are healthy for our body . Overeating will make them sick, and they should balance their fruits and vegetables.
