Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived Mr. Shaba and his two children, Lili and Lihle. They had a dog named Spoti. They grew vegetables in their garden for food.

One day, while they were enjoying their meal, Mr. Shaba asked Lili and Lihle to go to the garden to pick potatoes, carrots, and sweet potatoes for their next meal.

3

Excitedly, they went to the garden and collected the vegetables.

4

On their way home, they met a naughty monkey.

The monkey said, "I demand you give me what you have" and they gave him the vegetables they had.

Lihle, feeling scared, said: "Here take it! It's all we have!"

5

"Yum yum!," said the monkey eating the vegetables they had while singing a song "monkey jumps, monkey scares, monkey steals, and monkey eats, mmh!"

6

When they reached home, Mr. Shaba asked them: "Where are the vegetables?"

7

Mr. Shaba was upset.

8

But because he is smart, he had an idea to trick the monkey.

9

He told them to carry Spoti, their dog, in a basket as if they were carrying vegetables.

They then went back to the garden with the basket.

10

Again, the monkey appeared and asked for more vegetables.

Lili then said, "we have the same vegetables as before do you want them?"

11

The monkey replied, and said, "give it to me" he took the basket and excitedly said, "mmmh, yum yum!"

12

Suddenly, Spoti jumped out of the basket and scared the monkey away.

The monkey cried and said: "Please, help! Please, I will never demand vegetables again!"

Lihle cheered for Spoti because the monkey had stolen their vegetables.
