In a village named Laku lived Titi. She was a slave girl in the palace of King Lakuma.

She was hard working and honest. King Lakuma loved her and she could speak to him any time.

The princess was not happy with Titi. She was jealous that the king treated Titi like a princess. She always made Titi work harder than other slaves.

The princess also asked King Lakuma to send Titi away.

One day, the princess sent Titi to fetch water in the river at night. The goddess of the river forbade fetching of water in the night. The princess wished the goddess to kill Titi.

The goddess fell in love with Titi. She told Titi that King Lakuma would make his son marry Titi.

King Lakuma was looking for Titi. Everyone was surprised to see her coming from the river. "How did you make it alive?" King Lakuma asked. The goddess became my friend. She said she will no longer harm anyone because of me."

The King asked the prince to marry Titi. When King Lakuma died, Titi became the queen when the princess came to throne.
