The Lion, King of the animals had not spoken for several days. He was very sad. The animals were afraid and gathered to find a solution.
Since the King refused to utter a word, the animals offered to sing in turns to please him.
The male chicken was the first to sing. "Kokroookoooooo!, He crowed. The animals chuckled and giggled. They now started calling him Cock! The King still did not smile.
The ox was next. The male came forward and sang, "Buuuullll! Buuuullll!. The animals laughed and guffawed. They now started calling him , 'Bull!" The King was not impressed.
It came to the turn of the sheep. The male with gnarly horns came. He was found of hitting the animals with his horns for fun. He sang, "Raaaaam! Raaaaam!" The animals laughed and booed him. He became sad. The King was not impressed.
The pussy cat was curious. He climbed down from the tree. He rubbed himself round and sang, "Meeeow! Meeeow!" He then purred. The King was irritated. "Get out before I cut you up!" He roared. The animals chuckled and called him, cat.
The lark stepped up, twittered and chirped from branch to branch. The dove cooed. The bat and guinea fowl played gongs with their beaks and the Nightingale joined with the flute from the shrubs.
The King roared with mirth at the sound of birds. The animals all became happy. All the animals joined the singing. The King was happy with the orchestra. The animals had all won.
