Mallam Abubakar was a social studies teacher in Karate primary school.
One day during his lesson, he noticed a particular boy was lying his head on the table. When Mallam Abubakar moved closer to the boy, he realised that the boy was crying.
Mallam Abubakar called the boy outside and enquired why he is crying. The boy answered. "I am hungry and my mother has no food nor money to give me".
After listening to the boy's unpleasant complaints, the good teacher gave this boy the little money he had for his breakfast. Mallam Abubakar also told the boy to approach him anytime he is in such a dare need, instead of crying.
After a long time, Mallam Abubakar went to the pension board to submit his retirement letter.
Immediately he entered the office, one of the officers quickly stood up and went straight to greet Mal. Abubakar. The officer then asked if his former teacher recognise him. Mal Abubakar answered negatively.
In what sounded like a dream to Mal. Abubakar, this officer told him that he taught him social studies in Karate primary school, and reminded him of how he assisted him with breakfast money whenever he had nothing to eat in school.
The officer went ahead to thank Mal. Abubakar, collected his letter and promised to facilitate the release of his pension. Mal. Abubakar's pension came out in just three months.
Retired Mal. Abubakar was excited. He asked the gentle officer if he is married and the officer said no. Mal. Abubakar went ahead to offer the officer his daughter who just graduated from the University as wife if he is interested.
The young officer accepted the offer and promised Mal. Abubakar that he will reciprocate the good gesture of the father by being a kind husband to his daughter.
Three months later, Malam Abubakar's daughter (Asma'u) and his former pupil were formerly married.
A year later, the couple were blessed with a boy named Abubakar, after the grand father. They lived happily and became a point of reference to kind gestures in the entire community. You now see why it pays to be good in life?
