Once upon a time there lived two faithful friends. Lila and Dida were their names. Dida was hard working and respected her parents. She would do the house chores and her parents were happy with her.
Lila was lazy and did not like to work. She would pretend to be sick all the time which made her parents very upset.
One day as they were walking on the road they met a woman who was carrying a heavy bag of maize. Dida assisted her to carry it. When they got to her home Dida handed her the bag. The woman was very greatful and she blessed the girl.
One afternoon Dida was sent by her mother to go fetch water from the river. On the way she went singing her favourite song.
"Jony Jony, yes papa,
Eating sugar, no papa,
Telling lies, no papa,
Open your mouth, ha ha ha."
On her way back, she heard voices talking to her saying, "collect the fruits that have fallen down and go lock your self up and cut them in private." Though confused, Dida did as instructed.
Dida went home and locked herself and cut the fruits. To her amazement there was gold inside the fruits. She was as happy as a lark. She immediately called her parents. They decided to sell it and they became rich.
When Lila saw what had happened to Dida, she went down to the river too to fetch water. She took a jerrican and on her way back she heard a voice saying "pick the bad fruits." She obeyed.
She went home and cut them. Cats, dogs and other animals came out. "I am such a fool." She exclaimed! The animals chased the entire family away. They ran and never came back.
