In a village near the river. Lived a Father and his two sons. Mumba and Chansa. They were a happy family.
Every day Mumba and his brother Chanda walked to the field to get maize and groundnuts to eat. They were happy and thankful for a good harvest.
One bright afternoon as they walked home from the field, they met a monkey. The monkey did not greet them. It looked at them and looked at their basket of food. Give me that food. The monkey shouted.
Mumba and Chansa did not like the bad monkey and tried to hide their food basket. But the monkey grabbed it from them.
The monkey ate the food. The boys were sad. They went back home without any food.
Where is the food? their father asked.
The monkey got it. The boys answered
Their father was not happy and there was no food for the family to eat.
The monkey ate the food in the basket, every day. The boys were sad and afraid of the monkey.
One day the boys went to the field with their dog. He might help us they said, the monkey gets our food everyday.
As they walked back home the monkey appeared and demanded the food. The boys refused and the dog chased the monkey away.
The boys were happy and thanked the dog.
That night they ate a good meal and told stories of the monkey to their father.
