Thandi and Lucky live with their granny.
Behind their house they keep chickens !

Every morning before school Lucky feeds the chickens

and Thandi fetches the newly laid eggs for their breakfast!

One day Thandi notices something strange!

She looks up and down and everywhere but she cannot find any eggs!

"Let me help you look" says Lucky.

Lucky looks up and down and everywhere but there are still no eggs!

Granny is very worried.
"Something must be stealing our eggs!" she cries,
"What could it be?"

The next day Thandi heard the chickens squawk.
"what could it be?" she wondered and ran to her window to look

She saw a puppy chasing the chickens and stealing their eggs.

"Hey!" she shouted "leave the chickens alone!"

The dog got a fright and tried to run away but... OH NO! he got caught in the fence

Lucky and Thandi ran outside to help the dog.

"where does he come from?" asked Thandi

"I know!" said Lucky, "this is Uncle Frank's new puppy!"

Thandi and Lucky went to Uncle Frank's house and knocked on the door.

"My Puppy!" cried Uncle Frank, "I've been looking everywhere for him, he must have run away!"
"I think I know where he's been," said Lucky, "He was stealing our eggs!"

Uncle Frank promised to keep his puppy from running away.
Everything went back to normal and soon Thandi was fetching eggs for breakfast again.
