Mezemir Girma

Debre Birhan University, which is located in Ethiopia, is doing COVID-19 prevention tasks. To get entry access into the compound everyone must get their identification cards scanned by a machine. People don't check the cards.

1

The body temprature of staff and students is measured using this machine made at the university. It requires only standing nearby and no touching is involved.

2

The former washing space is no more used. The reason is it is opened by touching. Touching could help disseminate the virus from one person to another.

3

Instead new handwashing apparatus that is operated with legs has been developed by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. It is safe and it saves water.

4

On campus grounds wearing facemasks is also mandatory. It prevents the spread of the virus from person to person.
All these tasks are examplary and keep the university community from the outbreak.
Let us keep ourselves safe from COVID-19.

5

At the cafeteria customers are strongly warned not to sit in groups of more than three people. The notice is kept at all tables.

6

Notices are posted everywhere to remind people about precautionary measures.

7

The Department of Chemistry has manufactured hand sanitizer and distributed to the community within and outside of the university. This helps fight the spread of the virus.
