In the village of Roki there lived a boy called Joram and his parents were Mr and Mrs Mbai. One day as his parents were travelling they got an accident and died.
Joram was left to take care of himself and he had to wake up every morning
he had to wake up early to do the house chores. After school,Joram had to walk at his home town to get food,
Life become difficult for Joram as the days passed. He rarely had enough time to study only while in school. This made him fail
his exams and lost his friends because he had no time to play with them.
At times Joram spent some nights hungry. He was already poor since he had sold almost everything in the house and he could get money for buying food and other basic needs. Most of the people could not offer him work since he was underage.
It was on Thursday evening when Joram was going home from school and looked hungry and thirsty. He could not hold it any more. He went to nearby home to borrow a cup of water. He made short footsteps towards the main door of this house
After knocking,Mary who was in the house came out. Joram told her " Hello? My name is Joram. Kindly help me with a cup of water". Mary with a smile on her face watched Joram keenly and noticed how hungry he was. She invited him in the house
and provided him with food and milk. Joram was very happy ate and drunk the milk. He thanked Mary for her kindness. Mary felt good that she helped someone in need. She waved the poor boy as he left and told him to always paasby when in need
Twenty years later,Mary was admited in hospital and was unconcious. A young handsome doctor treated her and stayed by her side until she was well. Later on Mary was supposed to leave the hospital so she called the nurse and asked her
about the bill which she knew large amount of money was to be paid. She tried to plead with the nurse to release her to go and search for money to clear the bill. The nurse gave Mary a receipt which showed her bill was cleared.
Mary was shocked and wanted to know who cleared the bill but it was written in bold "JORAM THE BOY YOU GAVE FOOD AND MILK".
