Adding 's' makes more things.

Adding 's' to a word forms a plural.

Removing 's' from a word forms a singular.

Even though letter 's' builds words there are some words that change the rules.

If a word ends in ch, sh, s, ss, x or z then use 'es.'

If a word ends in 'y,' swap the 'y' with an 'i' before adding 'es.'

But if there is a vowel before the 'y' add 's.'
